----------------------------------------------
Some years ago, before St. Johns Cemetery's tombstones
were removed, I asked my youngest brother (in lieu of my absence from
the State) if he could go to St. Johns and see if he could find Mary
O'Donnell's tombstone. He told me that he found it, though he said
to be sure it was hers he had to take soil from around her grave and
rub it against the tombstone so the faded letters would show themselves
clearly. At a time it came as a surprise to both of us that one of
our great great great grandmothers was buried only a few miles up
the road from where we grew up as children and yet, until that time,
had had no knowledge of this fact.
