According to my mother, her mother ran away from home after the death of her mother (Charlotte BOHLSEN née JOYCE), for whom she had cared (with her sister Lillian) during a protracted illness.
Granmother referred to herself as "Grandma Woodford", after their Blue-Mountains hometown, which they left in the 1940s after a bushfire destroyed their home and contents. 5
