Sir John le BIGOD of Stockton, Knt.

- Died: Shortly before 18 Mar 1305
of Stockton, Geldeston, Kirkby Mundham, and Seething, Norfolk, Bugbrook,
Northamptonshire, and Theberton, Suffolk, son and heir, of age by
1269. In 1268/9, he was in the king's service in London, when his
mother called him to warrant her title to lands in Derbyshire and
Suffolk. In 1280, 1289 and 1302, he nominated attorneys to act for
him in Ireland. In 1293 he had letters of protection, going to Ireland
with the Earl of Gloucester. In 1302 his cousin Roger Bigod, 7th Earl
of Norfolk, surrendered his Earldom, the Marshalcy, and all his lands
to the king. Just previous to this action, Earl Roger conveyed to
him and his wife, Isabel, and their sons, John and Roger, in tail
successively the manor of Settrington, Yorkshire, and the advowson
of Gedleston, Norfolk. He died shortly before 18 Mar 1305.
John also married Isabel. (Isabel Isabel died shortly
before 12 Sep 1311..)
