The pentagon (which contains the pentagram)
is an image of great beauty—not surprising, since the Golden Section or
Golden Mean is to be found within its geometry. The Golden Mean has been called
"The Divine Proportion" and is found throughout nature from sunflowers
to seashells, from antelope horns to bee genealogies. For more information on
the Golden Section or Golden Mean, I have provided at the bottom of the page
some links to a few of many sites which are dedicated to an exploration of this
number.
